Update:

Hello everyone,

We had a good amount of people reach out and ask about our current situation and what has been happening recently. We usually keep things very private and try to deal with things on our own but many have asked us to share what we have been going through in regards to our move so we thought we would share this here. 

We want to thank everyone for their patience as we settle into our new space, unpack, and figure things out after being forced to leave our previous location amongst a series of unfortunate events we have been dealing with. 

Unfortunately we have been dealing with issues with our previous landlord after the original owner passed. After the original owner passed, their son took over the business.

 When the son took over they doubled our rent out of nowhere. We tried to break our lease and leave because it was becoming too costly with the current climate that we have been going through. Material costs, shipping costs increasing as well as the tariffs that were now implemented on every shipment/order.

We initially thought breaking the lease would only require paying a fine of some sort  and forfeiting our deposit. Instead when we tried to break our lease, they threatened to sue us for breach of contract unless we paid the full remainder of the lease upfront which was now doubled.

We were told we had to stay until June 2026 and pay the new rent or we could vacate and hope someone will fill our lease but while it was not filled we were still liable for monthly rent of the premises.

It did not make sense for us to be forced to pay our lease until June 2026 and have it unoccupied hoping someone would move in when our neighbor three doors down did just that. They vacated and for months they have not found a new tenant and have been paying for the unit to be empty. Until this day no one has moved into that unit and they are still paying for it. 

Our lease was finally ending this year in June 2026, and we have been working hard to find a new location without success. Many other locations we were looking at charged just as much for half the space we currently have. 

First week of June our property manager now tells us the new owner (the son) has decided to sell the entire property. The new owner now wanted to raise rent even more. Almost 4x the original rent. There was just absolutely no way we could pay that nor did it make any sense. 

We ended up having to move the business in the mean time through our home office and half into storage while we figure out what is the best move for us as a business and a family.

We have been going through a lot personally and we try to separate our business and personal lives but we are human and as much as we try not to let one affect the other its very hard. 

We just want to say thank you to everyone who has been very patient with us and for  the support we have received, it really means a lot to us. Thank you to everyone who came to our warehouse sale as well as friends & family who came to spend time with us as we said goodbye to our old location. 

Many asked if we were closing because of the recent sales, the answer is no.

We aren't giving up that easily. Entrepreneurship is definitely not for everyone, there are a lot of doubts and sleepless nights and a lot of hard work behind the scenes. But we wouldn't trade it for anything else. 

We have been very blessed to be able to do what we love for the past 11 years and cannot express how thankful we have been for all the support and friends we have made on this journey. 

We honestly just no longer have the space to hold as much inventory at the moment and we wanted to give our community a chance to grab things at a discounted rate while recuperating on moving costs as well. 

Again, we sincerely want to take the time to acknowledge all of your support throughout these years. We are continually working through the back end of the store to catch up on previous production issues and truly are grateful for your patience. There's definitely more to our story that we'd like to share with you all in the near future but for now, we hope this gives you a glimpse at what LOWKEY! has been through in the past year alone.
